Celebrant

Welcome to the ceremony of your dreams

Welcome
Whatever event or occasion you are hoping to mark, I warmly welcome you here.
It would be my honour to bring a sense of ceremony, reverence and narrative to your celebration.

As a professional Celebrant, I have been trained by the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants (FPC) to create for you a bespoke and unique ceremony that reflects your own choices, aspirations and values. This includes designing the ceremony with you, writing it and conducting the ceremony on the day.

I will listen to your story, the paths that have led you to where you are today, the things and people that are important in your life and the occasion you want to mark.
I will ask you for any symbols, poems, readings, songs, gestures and rituals that have meaning to you, and I will weave together these elements to design a deeply personal, inspiring and soulful ceremony that truly honours you.

There's no place here for  one size fits all.  No place for bog standard, same old, same old, stale, predictable or bland.  With me as your celebrant, your celebration will be bespoke, incomparable,  exceptional and extraordinary. As unique as you are. It reflects you and everything that matters to you.

As well as being a trained Celebrant and member of the Fellowship of Professional Celebrants, I am an accredited Transformational Coach and also a creative writer.
Nothing makes me happier than hearing other people's stories and drawing meaning, themes and coherence from them.
You deserve a ceremony that is as individual as you are. You deserve an occasion the memory of which will light you up for years to come.

Your story is glorious and extraordinary.

Marriages

Having a celebrant led wedding gives you the freedom to choose when and where you want to hold your ceremony. From a twilight ceremony in the woods to a sunrise celebration on a beach, from a windmill to a castle to a marquee in your garden to the spot where you first met. As your celebrant, it's vital that you feel a connection with me and my work, and for that reason I will meet you long before the big day to ensure that we click and to find out exactly how I can help you create the wedding that you want. It's all about you.

Your ceremony, your way

Baby naming, family blending, adoptions

Whether welcoming new babies into the world, or older children into blended families, or to adoptive parents, a ceremony can involve all the most important figures in a child's life and honour all that they wish for them. Promises can be written, wishes can be bestowed, symbolic acts can convey a sense of protection, and love for the child.

Your ceremony, your way

Divorce, Uncoupling and Breakup ceremonies

Some of life's transitions are painful. Nobody gets married with the aim of one day getting divorced. But a ritual to mark the end of love can bring closure and healing to one or both partners.

Your ceremony, your way

Other ceremonies - Gender Transition, Coming of (any) Age, Vow renewals, Moving Overseas.......

There is really no limit to the events that we can bring a sense of occasion to. The above are just a few. You will have your own in mind. In our lifetime we will cross many thresholds - maybe from married to single, one gender to another, child to adult, one decade to another, even moving overseas from one country to another.

Your ceremony, your way
From marriage to baby naming, vow renewals, blessing a new home, crossing a threshold from one stage of life or identity to another, the opportunities to celebrate, honour and create meaning in our lives are limited only by our imagination. All of us have experienced the celebration of a birthday - maybe the ritual of lighting candles and blowing them out. Singing Happy Birthday to You.  The gifting of presents.  Many of us have attended a wedding with its multitude of  rituals - the exchanging of rings, speaking of vows and throwing of the bouquet.

But what about less obvious occasions that might not be intentionally marked? Occasions that could easily just drift by if we let them? What about the life events that are uniquely important to us as individuals? It might be a gender transition, adoption, the recovery from a long illness, the strengthening of bonds between neighbours, achieving something out of your comfort zone, bringing together two blended families to live together for the first time, hitting your first sales target in the business that you have started from scratch, making a lifelong commitment to your partner without wanting a legally binding marriage, a divorce ceremony to let go of the past with integrity, the marking of a child flying the nest.

How rich would life be if we infused these events with a sense of occasion, ritual and celebration? Connecting ourselves soulfully to those events that pepper our life with meaning and joy. By elevating these events with ritual and ceremony, they offer us more than just the few hours that they last. They gift us memories, a sense of connectedness with those others attending, and an anchoring point in our past from which we can make sense of our present. And each year, they give us an anniversary date when we can look back and reflect at how our lives may have changed, the marking of time, a vantage point from which to see the ebb and flow of our life.

If 2020 has taught us anything it's that 'normal' life is an illusion. The daily rituals that we took for granted - the school run, the drink after work on a Friday, the hugs with the grandparents, the evening class, the girls night out, the monthly trip to the cinema - have become events that we will no doubt appreciate and cherish once they can trickle back into our lives. Let's make 2021 and beyond the Year of the Ceremony - let's gather when we can, purposefully and intentionally. A soulful gathering jam-packed with all the elements that are meaningful to us, and involving all the people we want to share it with.

Let's crown more occasions with magic and meaning. Let's design more events with intention and soul.

The core values of my business are

FREEDOM - offering you a ceremony based on exactly what you want, free from restrictive regulations and liturgy.
AUTHENTICITY - allowing you to show up as the real you in all your glorious splendour.
MEANING - the ability to bring deeply personal and unique elements to your ceremony, that reflect the things that matter to you.
